GICS Grant Programs
GICS have capacity to offer funding for a range of service improvement activities and staff development opportunities
Funding is available to staff providing specialist and generalist cancer services to residents of the Grampians region.
Eligibility criteria applies and organisations seeking funding must work at any of the following locations:
- Ballan Health & Care Services
- Ballarat Austin Radiation Oncology Centre (BAROC)
- Beaufort & Skipton Health Service
- Central Highlands Rural Health
- East Grampians Health Service
- Grampians Health
- Maryborough District Health Service
- Rural Northwest Health
- St John of God Hospital (Ballarat)
- West Wimmera Health Service.
GICS Small Grants Program 2024–25
This grant program supports small scale projects aimed at improving access, experiences, and outcomes for cancer patients and/or carers living in the Grampians region.

GICS Professional Development Grants 2024-25
GICS are pleased to welcome and support professional development applications from the Grampians region staff working in cancer care. We are accepting Expressions of Interest applications from staff who would like to undertake Professional Development opportunities prior to 30 June 2025.
Professional Development includes conference registration (e.g. cancer or discipline related) and training courses (e.g. leadership, project management, change management, etc).
GICS have the capacity to offer up to $1000 to eligible applicants. The allocation of funds will be confirmed pending the outcome of the EOI application. Note that you will require endorsement from you manager to attend the training prior to submitting this EOI.

GICS Service Improvement Grants
GICS offer Service Improvement Grants biannually to provide funding for projects that will deliver improvements in systems and processes and thereby improving treatment and support for people diagnosed with cancer in the region.
Please find a below a list of projects that GICS funded during the 2023 grant round. To note, due to implications from the COVID-19 pandemic, some of the projects listed below were rolled over from 2020-21 to the 2023-24 grant round.
