The GICS region covers almost 50,000km2 and stretches from the western edge of Melbourne to the South Australian border

It is home to Ballarat, Victoria’s largest inland city, and includes a number of significant towns including Ararat, Bacchus Marsh, Edenhope, Horsham, Nhill, Stawell and Warracknabeal.

The Grampians footprint is characterised by stunning landscapes like the Grampians National Park, the Wimmera Mallee and a thriving agricultural sector.

The GICS region is home to more than 260,000 people. Our diverse population includes 4,417 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander residents and more than 15,412 residents who were born overseas.

In 2022, 1848 residents were diagnosed with cancer with the most prevalent cancer types being:

  • Prostate – 16%
  • Haematology – 13%
  • Bowel – 12%
  • Breast – 11%
  • Lung – 10%
  • Melanoma – 8%
  • Other Cancers – 30%
