Strengthen access to equitable, timely and consumer-centred cancer care
– focused on priority populations
The Victorian Cancer Plan commits the state to achieving health equity across the cancer system.
Pillar 3 of the Victorian Cancer Plan 2024–2028 (p. 37 of the PDF) focuses on ‘Optimal access and care across the cancer pathway’, including equitable access to prevention, screening, diagnosis, treatment, supportive care, and palliative care.
Current VICS action areas to improve access to equitable, timely and consumer-centred cancer care include:
- Deliver targeted equity and experience-informed service improvements, particularly for priority populations
- Improve adult and paediatric shared care across Victoria, to enable care closer to home where safe to do so.
