Metropolitan–Regional Engagement Project

Project purpose

To enhance links between regional and metropolitan cancer services.

What we did

LMICS and WCMICS initiated a two-year project to enhance service integration for patients between our regions, sharing the costs of a project officer in a job-sharing and co-located role.

Outputs

The project produced several products including resources on local support services and a patient video about the haematology teams in the Loddon Mallee region.

Impact

People affected by cancer across the 2 regions gained access to better information and service coordination.

Travel for Treatment: Rhonda’s story

Rhonda’s story highlights the need to improve the connectedness of cancer care for rural patients and carers. Rhonda was just one of many patients who were travelling long distances for cancer care and treatment. Watch her story below.
