The Southern Melbourne Integrated Cancer Service (SMICS) is a partnership between Bayside Health’s Alfred and Peninsula Care Groups, Monash Health and Cabrini Health that aims to improve patient experiences and outcomes by connecting cancer care and driving best practice to enhance quality and coordination of cancer care.

Now recruiting for SMICS Lived Experience Advisors

SMICS is currently seeking expressions of interest from people with lived experience of cancer (consumers) who have received or cared for someone who received care in southern Melbourne. This important role helps to guide strategy, implementation, and evaluation of cancer care improvement initiatives within our region.

Lived Experience Advisors contribute to the SMICS program of work by:

  • Advocating for people affected by cancer by providing community perspectives on the needs, challenges and opportunities in cancer care for patients, carers and families.
  • Participating in project‑related activities, including meetings, working groups and focus groups, and providing feedback on the development of patient information materials, surveys and other improvement initiatives.
  • Providing input into documents, surveys, project briefs and patient‑facing materials.

This role requires a commitment of approximately 2 hours per month.
