Surgical insertion of a Hickman line (RCH)

The information leaflet for families below, developed by The Royal Children’s Hospital (RCH), explains insertion of a Hickman line – a long, thin, flexible catheter that gives access to the bloodstream. It is used to administer medicines and fluids over many months, reducing the need for needles.
