LMICS Community of Practice on Cancer and Sexual Wellbeing
LMICS recently hosted the inaugural meeting of a new Community of Practice (CoP), established in response to strong interest from health professionals in supporting patients with issues related to Cancer and Sexual Wellbeing. The event was chaired by Dr. Rob Campbell.
The topic of sexuality during cancer care was the focus of the 2024 LMICS Annual Forum and generated significant engagement across the region. Building on this momentum, LMICS has had the valuable support of Krista Phillips, a Social Work student completing her Master of Science in Medicine (Sexual and Reproductive Health) in Psychosexual Therapy at the University of Sydney. Krista has played a key role in establishing this CoP, which aims to provide a space for health professionals to connect, share knowledge, and access education and support in this important area.

LMICS Cancer & Sexual Wellbeing Community of Practice
The focus of this session was how body image, cancer, and sexuality are interconnected. We are delighted to welcome:
• Chaired by Tara Bewley – Exercise Physiologist and LMICS Project Lead
• Laura Lee – Psychologist and Sexologist from Geelong, recognised for her work in body positivity and intimacy.
• Lisa Carson – Breast Care Nurse at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, Bendigo, who will present a case study exploring internalised body image concerns associated with haematological cancer.
