Prostate Cancer

Prostate cancer begins when abnormal cells in the prostate start growing in an uncontrolled way.

There is no single test to detect prostate cancer. Your GP may suggest you have a blood test or refer you to a Urologist for further investigations such as an imaging scan, rectal examination or biopsy.

Treatment for prosate cancer may cause side effects. The severity and duration of side effects varies from person to person. Fortunately, there are many ways to reduce or manage side effects. In the first instance, it is important to discuss side effects with your treating team who will be able to provide the best advice on management.
