Identification of and engagement with First Nations community at AWRCC

A collaboration between Strengthening Regional Cancer Services Program and HRICS, this project reviewed the identification and supportive care assessment of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander service users at Albury Wodonga Regional Cancer Centre (AWRCC). Report and implementation plan were compiled incorporating 3 key recommendations:

  • Creating a culturally friendly environment
  • Training and education for staff in ‘Asking the question’
  • Increasing uptake of a supportive screening tool to help to identify unmet supportive care needs.
