Austin Health Day Oncology at Home Patient Experience Report

The Austin Health Day Oncology at Home (DOAH) service commenced in August 2021 in response to recommendations in the Victorian Cancer Plan 2020-24 to provide care closer to home.

After the first year of service, a patient experience survey was undertaken to determine patient and carer satisfaction with the service and identify any areas for improvement.

Given the success of the initial survey, it was decided this was a feasible process to undertake every two years to ensure ongoing best practice and continuous improvement within the DOAH program. The 2024 evaluation of patient and/or carer experience and feedback of the DOAH service continues to demonstrate a high level of satisfaction with the service.

Patients and/or carers continue to have a positive experience of the service and the DOAH staff. Respondent feedback highlights that DOAH recipients like the comfort and convenience of having care at home and not having to travel or deal with parking.
