HRICS Presents at Clinical Oncology Society of Australia (COSA) 2024
HRICS attended the Clinical Oncology Society of Australia (COSA) Annual Scientific Meeting held November 2024.
Two HRICS abstracts were presented by Project Lead Sian Wright (pictured) displaying local and statewide work which included:
1. Development and piloting of the Survivorship Care Plans (SCPs) with Northeast Health Wangaratta (NHW) commenced in 2023, with evaluation undertaken in 2024.
The poster presented at COSA highlighted the success of Survivorship Care Plans in enhancing post-treatment cancer care. SCPs improved care coordination, reduced isolation, and empowered patients. Surveys revealed positive feedback from both patients and stakeholders, emphasising SCPs’ role in patient-centred care. The program’s success supported plans for wider implementation within the service.
2. The development of the VICS Care of the older person with cancer toolkit was an output from the statewide project for the Victorian Cancer Plan 2024 – 2028. This project has previously been presented at the CNSA Conference 2023. Following this a targeted evaluation of the toolkit has been undertaken and the poster updated to reflect the new data collected.
The evaluation showed that clinicians who had used the toolkit indicated it was appropriate and relevant for the audience and user-friendly. The toolkit has increased opportunities for VICS staff to engage with their health services and identify service improvement opportunities.
