This report highlights and celebrates the achievements and diverse service improvement initiatives undertaken by GRICS in collaboration with our stakeholders over the past 12 months. It demonstrates our ongoing commitment to supporting our member health services and addressing disparities in cancer outcomes for regional patients.
Key Highlights:
- Statewide Collaboration: Contributing to home-based cancer care and supportive care initiatives within the Victorian Integrated Cancer Service.
- Exercise and Cancer: Continued partnerships with Latrobe Community Health Service and Latrobe City Council to improve patient access to exercise physiologist-led programs.
- National Recognition: Nine Gippsland-based cancer service improvement initiatives presented at the 2023 Clinical Oncology Society of Australia Conference.
- Education and Upskilling: Delivered workshops, study days, and GP events, plus 40 approved scholarships for cancer and palliative care education.
- Survivorship Initiatives: Partnering with the McGrath Foundation Breast Care Nurses to standardise survivorship services across Gippsland.
- Melanoma and Skin Cancer: Working with Gippsland GPs to enhance local access to melanoma services, including clinical trials, reducing the need for patients to seek care outside the region.
