Gippsland shared cancer care workshop
Bairnsdale Regional Health Service and Latrobe Regional Health came together for a Shared Cancer Care Workshop on 2 December 2024, focused on improving cancer patients’ care transitions across the two health services.
Bringing together staff to enhance coordination and identify opportunities for seamless patient care, the workshop involved mapping current patient pathways, identifying strengths in transitions, and exploring gaps and potential improvements in medical oncology, haematology, chemotherapy day units, symptom urgent review, and survivorship clinics.
This event reflects a shared commitment to delivering high-quality, integrated cancer care for patients in the region. The workshop outcomes will inform a follow-up session in early 2025, aiming to enhance the patient experience and care outcomes through integrated, high-quality cancer services delivered close to home. These workshops are guided by the 2022 Regional Cancer Services Plan and the 2023 Gippsland Region Cancer Clinical Governance Framework.
