Cancer centre virtual tour wins Excellent Care award
On 15 November 2024, at their annual general meeting, Bendigo Health presented an Excellent Care award to the team behind the Bendigo Regional Cancer Centre (BRCC) consumer-led virtual tour.
The innovative new resource (below) helps to guide and orientate new patients and their loved ones, as they navigate their cancer journey – explaining what to expect on their first visit to Bendigo Regional Cancer Centre (BRCC). It was inspired by discussions at VICS Optimal Care Summits, initiated with consumer vision, and developed as a codesign project with consumers, health professionals, project staff regional health service partners, other vulnerable groups, and Loddon Mallee Integrated Cancer Service (LMICS).
This accessible resource helps patients, families and carers to find their way and understand what to expect, reducing anxiety before arriving at the centre.
By the end of 2024, the video had attracted more than 1000 views.
