Surgical insertion of a port (RCH)
The information leaflet for families below, developed by The Royal Children’s Hospital (RCH), explains surgical insertion of a ‘port’ or Totally Implanted Venous Access Device (TIVAD). A port is inserted under the skin and used to administer medications and fluids, reducing the need for needles.
