Physical activity for children living with cancer (e-learning module)

This resource has been developed by PICS, Victoria’s Paediatric Integrated Cancer Service.

As part of our professional development and education resources for health professionals, PICS has developed a series of e-learning modules with input from staff from The Royal Children’s Hospital Melbourne, Monash Children’s Hospital, and Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre.

This module is Physical activity for children living with cancer. It will help learners to:

  • Define physical activity and give examples of what is considered physical activity
  • Explain why physical activity is important for children with cancer
  • Describe the factors that can affect a child’s physical activity when they have cancer
  • Identify ideas to incorporate physical activity into clinical care and daily routines
  • Identify safety considerations
  • Identify when to refer to physiotherapy for assessment and treatment.

The module is freely available, and hosted on the eviQ Education website.
