Caring for children and adolescents with mucositis (e-learning module)
This resource has been developed by PICS, Victoria’s Paediatric Integrated Cancer Service.
As part of our professional development and education resources for health professionals, PICS has developed a series of e-learning modules with input from staff from The Royal Children’s Hospital Melbourne, Monash Children’s Hospital, and Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre.
This module is Caring for children and adolescents with mucositis. It will help learners to:
- Describe what mucositis is
- Describe the triggers and contributing factors in developing mucositis
- Identify the signs and symptoms of mucositis
- List common tools used to assess and monitor oral health
- Describe preventative techniques
- Identify practical nursing implications
- Identify other considerations in caring for a patient with mucositis.
The module is freely available, and hosted on the eviQ Education website.
