This resource has been developed by PICS, Victoria’s Paediatric Integrated Cancer Service.
As part of our professional development and education resources for health professionals, PICS has developed an e-learning pack and series of videos as an introduction to paediatric oncology for allied health, administration and support staff.
This is the third video in the series, Session 3: Riding the Rollercoaster: the psychosocial impact of childhood cancer on patients and families.
It covers:
- frameworks for understanding family responses to childhood cancer
- common psychological responses of patients and family members
- opportunities for trauma-informed practice in caring for patients and families
- self-care needs for oncology healthcare professionals.
This e-learning is best understood when used in conjunction with the other materials in the e-learning pack, such as the supporting slides.
