Digital Platform Cancer Mind Care Strengthens Support for Cancer Workforce
WCMICS has contributed to the continued development of the Cancer Mind Care (CMC) digital platform, supporting the addition of new clinician-focused resources to strengthen psycho-oncology capability across cancer services.
Originally launched in 2021, Cancer Mind Care provides personalised wellbeing support for people affected by cancer through tailored information and self-management resources across multiple psycho-oncology domains. In 2024–25, the platform was expanded with a dedicated Clinician Portal, offering practical tools to help health professionals identify and respond to psychological distress in cancer patients. The portal includes webinar recordings, curated resources, fact sheets and professional development materials designed to support clinicians working in cancer care settings.
This work reflects WCMICS’ broader focus on workforce capability and supportive care, helping clinicians build confidence and skills in psycho-oncology, particularly in services with limited access to specialist mental health support.
Use of the Cancer Mind Care platform has grown significantly since its launch, demonstrating strong sector uptake.
Between 2021 and 2025:
- New users increased by 111%, from approximately 1,900 to 4,000 users
- Page views increased by 123%, from 9,400 to more than 21,000 views
- Access to clinician resources increased by 68%, from 431 to 725 visits
These trends highlight the increasing demand for accessible supportive care tools and the value of digital resources in strengthening psycho-oncology support for patients and clinicians across the Victorian cancer system.
