Understanding current palliative care pathways to support better cancer care across WCMICS
WCMICS is undertaking an Integrated Palliative Care Pathway Audit to better understand how people with cancer access and experience palliative care across the cancer pathway.
The project is currently in the diagnostic and data planning phase, with work underway to identify the key questions, data sources and information needed to understand current practice and opportunities for improvement.
The audit will draw on a range of information sources, including health service data, relevant literature and the expertise of clinicians and health service staff. The project will also consider how data can be collected and analysed consistently, while ensuring appropriate privacy and data governance requirements are met.
The findings from this work will help build a clearer picture of current palliative care pathways and inform opportunities to strengthen integrated, timely and coordinated care for people with cancer.
