EWHS Skin Squad
Supported by a GICS Service Improvement Grant this project will implement a nurse-led skin cancer screening program to be piloted in the East Wimmera Health Service (EWHS) catchment
The Skin Squad project will upskill an East Wimmera Health Service Nurse Practitioner and two Registered Nurses, through accredited training in Dermoscopy and Melanography to build local clinical expertise in skin cancer screening, supporting GP’s with skin cancer specialties, and Dermatologists.
The project will establish and promote a sustainable nurse-led model of care across the EWHS catchment to provide patients with accessible, high quality screening opportunities close to home.
The project will be piloted over a 12-month period delivering 10 Skin Squad clinics, across multiple townships, providing the foundation to evaluate service effectiveness, community demand and financial viability.
A project plan is currently in development which will further outline the activities planned for this project.
