Creating Culturally Safe & Welcoming Treatment Spaces

This project aims to deliver culturally safe treatment spaces in the Wimmera

The GICS team are working with local health services and community Aboriginal health teams to deliver culturally safe treatment spaces at Grampians Health campuses in Stawell and Horsham.

Objective – Wimmera Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander cancer patients access care as close to home as possible and feel culturally welcome at the Wimmera Cancer Centre.

There are a number of activities underway, with one activity involving the development of a native garden at the Wimmera Cancer Centre.

It is anticipated the garden will include native plant species indigenous to the area which will awaken the senses, whilst being welcoming and inviting, to not only community, but all who visit the Centre.
