Boost AYA: Targeting cancer-related fatigue in adolescents and young adults via a digital, evidence-informed intervention

The Boost AYA project is focused on developing engaging, evidence-based digital support for young people experiencing cancer-related fatigue. Insights from workshops with young cancer survivors and a review of current research has shaped the project’s approach, highlighting a clear preference for short, informal, video-based content that addresses practical challenges such as managing fatigue, coping with body changes and returning to daily routines.

The project prioritises youth-friendly, social media–style content co-designed with young people and experts. The next phase will focus on developing and testing the in-app intervention, ensuring it is accessible, relevant and effective. This approach will strengthen alignment with the preferences of young people, supporting better engagement and long-term sustainability within survivorship care.

An update on the project was recently presented on 26 February 2026 at the Cancer Survivorship Community of Practice event. Click the video below to watch the recording.
