VICS Project Management workshop

On 10th September 2025, HRICS facilitated a Project Management workshop, face to face in Melbourne for all Victorian Integrated Cancer Services staff and Hume Region clinicians to build capability and consistency in managing and delivering projects across the state.

Expert presenters Gavin Meredith (Gavin Meredith Consulting) and Melissa Tinsley (NSW Health) led the 50 participants within the interactive workshop exploring the core elements of effective project management, including:

– Defining a project and building the case for change
– Project initiation tools and governance frameworks
– Stakeholder engagement and communication strategies
– Project diagnostics and data collection methods
– Monitoring project status and reporting
– Identifying and mitigating project risks
– Application of evidence-based, patient reported measures to inform projects
– Sharing lessons learned and fostering team collaboration

This workshop provided a valuable opportunity for networking, learning, and building capacity, supporting teams committed to improving cancer care outcomes.

Thank you to VICS program managers and directors who supported this workshop and the need for training and to all your staff for attending.

A highlight of the day was the unveiling of ‘Healing Journeys’, a specially commissioned artwork created by artist Vegas Fitzmaurice (VGF Creative) marking the 20-year anniversary of the Victorian Integrated Cancer Services. This powerful piece reflects the collective journey and progress of our service improvement network over the past two decades.
