The Pancreas Summit 2025 - GRICS presentation

GRICS is proud to have an oral presentation selected for the 2025 Pancreas Summit.

Caroline Lasry, GRICS Cancer Service Improvement Coordinator and Senior Dietitian, will be presenting “Timeliness of malnutrition screening and dietitian referrals for UGI cancer patients in a regional health service”.

Malnutrition is a common side effect of Upper Gastrointestinal (UGI) cancer which can negatively impact treatment and survival outcomes.

This audit indicates inconsistent nutritional screening and dietitian referral practices. Embedding malnutrition screening into current supportive care screening tools at initial oncologist appointment may improve consistency of malnutrition screening. Systemised streamlined referral pathways for dietitian assessment may optimise early nutrition interventions and address detrimental nutrition impact symptoms.
