SMICS Abstract accepted to the CNSA Annual Congress

SMICS and Monash Health will present a joint project at the upcoming Cancer Nurses Society of Australia (CNSA) Congress.

The Advocating for Equity: A Case Study of Disability-Inclusive Cancer Care presentation explores the complexities of cancer journeys for people with disability and examines how Disability Liaison Officers (DLOs) with oncology nursing experience help address barriers to care. This includes supporting care coordination, making adjustments, and improving communication to better enable patient‑centred cancer treatment.

The presentation is based on the initial scoping of a new SMICS project being undertaken in partnership with Monash Health, which seeks to examine the cancer care experiences of people with disability.
