GICS 2025-26 Service Improvement Grant Funding Recipients Announced

GICS announce funding recipients of the 2025-26 Service Improvement Grants Round

We were pleased to launch this round of funding at our Annual Forum held on 7 October 2025 with applications closing on 18 November 2025.

Bi-annually we allocate funding and resources towards a service improvement grants round for organisations providing specialist and generalist cancer services to residents of the Grampians region.

The grants provide funding for projects that will deliver improvements in systems and processes and thereby improve treatment and support for people diagnosed with cancer.

These grants target time-limited-service improvement projects, to be undertaken within 18 months, that could not be funded within existing health services’ resources. All applications received were required to address one or more of the Action Areas from the Victorian Cancer Plan 2024-28 and one or more of the steps of the Optimal Care Pathways.

We received a total of six applications, with four of those being successful:

  • East Wimmera Health Service: Skin Squad Project
  • Grampians Health – Ballarat: Cancer Bereavement Support Pilot Project
  • Rural Northwest Health: Cancer Awareness Support & Early Detection (CASED) Project
  • Grampians Health – Ballarat: Symptom & Urgent Review Clinic (SURC) Optimisation Project

These projects are currently in the planning stage and the findings of these projects will be shared across the region to inform subsequent service improvement activity.
