Build your confidence in providing culturally safe cancer care
DID YOU KNOW: More than 200 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people access cancer care at NEMICS health services each year. Providing culturally safe and respectful care is essential to improving their experiences and outcomes.
To equip healthcare workers with the knowledge and skills to deliver culturally safe cancer care, the Optimal Cancer Care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People course was developed in collaboration with the Southern Melbourne ICS, Gippsland Regional ICS, Aboriginal health and cancer services, and the VCCC Alliance.
This course explores the unique challenges faced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and offers practical strategies to improve care pathways and outcomes for individuals and their families.
The course is tailored for:
- Aboriginal Health Workers in primary care or hospital liaison roles
- Healthcare professionals coordinating cancer care
The free course takes approximately 4 hours to complete, with modules that can be completed individually at your own pace.
